Schoolmarm's Lil Red School House

This guide began its purpose for those members or prospective members of any of the Schoolhouse Webrings (listed left) that are unfamiliar with HTML editing. Since its first publication, this guide has been revised several times to accommodate the major changes within the "webring" system community over the past several years. As a result of those changes, the Schoolhouse Webrings are served by both WebRing and Ring Surf systems. For this guide to be of use to you, please verify which system serves the individual ring you have joined. The logo of the hosting system is plainly visible at the top on the join pages for each version of the individual rings.

Navigation of This Site

The links provided on the left side of this page (and subsequent pages) allow for quick access to the area of help required at the moment. The main header for each grouping is a link that will take you to a page containing the information listed as sublinks. The sublinks (marked by *) are bookmarks for the main page its grouped under so that you don't have to wade through information you may not need. The header pages are explained below.

  • General Expectations & Ring Terminology: Certain requirements must be met to become a member of a Net/Web Ring. This section outlines some of the basics and provides a glossary of terms used for ring systems.

  • HTML Basics: Provides an overview to clarify procedures and ease the installation process of the HTML or SSNB code fragment. Unfortunately, there are far too many different brands of web page editors out there to begin a tutorial for each and every one of them. However, the steps described here should offer some guidance and an explanation of terms. The rest will be up to you to apply them to your specific brand of editor or web publishing tool.

  • RingSurf NetRing Guide: The "Frequently Asked Questions" page, covers a wide range of topics where members have expressed confusion on issues or needed clarification of procedures. Make sure you check this page if you are unable to find the answer to your problem elsewhere on this site.

  • WebRing Guide: Describes the overall procedure for joining a ring on the Webring system. Everything from how to obtain an ID to managing your site is explained here. The WebRing system is extremely easy to use, but a little extra explanation might provide that boost for your happy ring membership.

The two "Links" groupings are self explanatory. 'Ring Links', refers to links to my individual ring home pages, their hub listings, and other links for more information sources. The 'Webring Links' provides easy access to main features of the Webring system.

I hope you find this site informative and helpful. If you find any errors, or would like to add some advice, or ask a question that is not answered here, please use the contact links.
I would like to hear from you.
