Classroom Management Adaption

To incorporate a new discipline policy in the classroom. A classroom disciplinary consequences poster was placed on the wall in an obvious location beside the 'class rules' poster. A small desktop version was taped to each desk as a reminder to students. To keep a record of minor infractions, a Written Warning: Behavior Sheet was filled out by the student and returned to the teacher. By the third offense, parents were notified of the problem and the accumulated Behavior Sheets provided evidence (in the student's own words) of his/her actions in the classroom. By the time a parent/teacher conference is needed, this documentation provides valuable information for formulating a student behavior modification plan to maintain the best learning environment for the student.

____D.		I would not stay at my desk, and instead wandered around the classroom or moved to another desk.
____E.		I would not do may assigned work, teacher prepared packet, or I stopped working early.
____F.		I could not sit at my assigned desk without physically bothering another person and/or their property.
____G.		I interrupted the class routine by speaking out in a loud voice without permission (without raising hand).
____H.		I exhibited inappropriate behavior while attending a class activity outside the classroom.

Classroom Management Adaption

During my student teaching experience, my own projected plans had to be adapted to my host teacher's existing system. Therefore, my own teaching methods had to be evaluated in relation to student performance and a new plan had to be designed to incorporate the systems already in place. The result was very gratifying as students and administration cooperatively worked for the best learning environment possible.
