Ring of AcademiaRingsurf - The Best in Webring Systems

A Web Ring Devoted to Educational Sites
Ringmistress: Schoolmarm

This ring is dedicated to sites which feature educational information at the secondary level. The purpose of this ring is to expose viewers to a wide variety of sites where "learning" and "academics" are the keywords of choice. If you are unfamiliar with Internet or Web Rings, they link together different Internet sites. A person finding the Ring of Academia logo can visit every member's site, without having to use a search engine or know the other sites' address.

Any non-commercial site covering any academic subject, teaching, or learning resource, may join the ring, as long as your page is suitable for ALL age groups.

If you would like to join the Ring of Academia Webring, just follow the steps outlined below.
The process is easy, but some things just have to be said.

Clarification of Ring Guidelines:

  • Educational Resources, Teacher Resources, Faculty Pages, Student Organizations (i.e., honor societies, fraternities, etc.)  are welcome to join! -- All educationally appropriate subjects (i.e., mathematics, hard sciences, history, social sciences, music, arts, etc.) are also acceptable sites and are encouraged to join this web ring.

  • Commercial organizations are rarely accepted and must offer a reason (relevant to teaching or learning) to visit the site besides simply to get information about the service or product offered.

  • The Main Restriction: The site's content must be suitable for viewing by visitors of Any Age and must not link to sites with questionable materials.

  • Ring Members Must Meet 3 Basic Requirements: All statements above must be met, have a working email address, and a current naviagtion panel must be displayed on the registered URL.

[Step 2] Placement of the HTML Fragment / Navigation Panel on your site:

  • Place the ring's navigation panel on your site immediately after submitting your site for review by the ring master. (Members transferring from the Yahoo Ring must get new ring code fragments) It must be in place when the ring master checks the site.

  • Several styles of navigation panels are available for you to choose from. The only requirement is that one of the Ring's Logos with navigation links must be displayed clearly on the page URL supplied on the "join form". Please do not alter graphics in any way. When I or another viewer visits your site, the navigation panel should be easy to find.

  • If the navigation panel is not easily seen on the page listed on the submit form, then the owner will be notified of the problem and it must be fixed before the site can be admitted to the ring. If the site is already a member, that site will be moved to the queue and will have 7 days to fix the problem. After 7 days, the site will be automatically deleted from the queue and the owner would have to resubmit the form above to re-enter the ring.

Here is one example of the required navigation panel for your site and this is the code provided to you pre-customized when joining the ring. If you choose this version, make sure that you download the graphic file (acadmap1.gif) then upload the image to your server in the same directory as your page containing the code. -- (Right click on the image map to download the graphic file)
